आज २०७५ साल फाल्गुण ७ गते मंगलबार शुक्ल पुर्णिमा तिथि र प्रजातन्त्र दिवस पनि ।
आज यसै शुभ दिनमा नेपाल क्यान्सर हस्पिटल तथा रिसर्च सेन्टरका कार्यकारी अध्यक्ष तथा नेपाल क्यान्सर सहयोग समूह (एनएसजी) का अध्यक्ष वरिष्ठ मेडिकल अन्कोलोजीस्ट डा सुदिप श्रेष्ठ (Sudip Shrestha) को शुभ जन्म दिन पनि । आज उहाँको जन्म दिन मनाउन पाउदा हामी सबै नेपाल क्यान्सर अस्पतालका कर्मचारीहरु अति खुशी र गौरबान्वित भएका छौ ।

डा सुदिप श्रेष्ठ, नेपाल क्यान्सर अस्पताल एण्ड रिसर्च सेन्टर (एनसीएचआरसी) का कार्यकारी अध्यक्ष नेपालमा अन्कोलजीको क्षेत्रमा अग्रगामी र र सुपरिचित चिकित्सक  हुनुहुन्छ । सन्  २०१५  मा नेपाल क्यान्सर हस्पिटल उहाँकै नेतृत्व र अग्रसरतामा  स्थापना भएको हो।

नेपाल क्यान्सर हस्पिटल सुरु गर्नुभन्दा पहिले डा श्रेष्ठले भक्तपुर क्यान्सर अस्पतालको चिकित्सा निर्देशक र विभागीय प्रमुखको   रूपमा सेवा गरेर काफि अनुभब लिईसक्नुभएको छ । नेपाल क्यान्सर हस्पिटल स्थापना अगाडि नेपालमा  क्यान्सर केयर शाखा र ओम क्यान्सर केयर सेन्टर जस्ता  महत्वपूर्ण सार्वजनिक अस्पताल स्थापना गर्न महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका खेल्नुभएको थियो ।   नेपालमा प्यालिएटिभ हेरचाह (२००९) र नेपाल क्यान्सर सहयोग समुह (२००९) का संस्थापक अध्यक्ष समेत रहनु भएका ड़ा श्रेष्ठ  क्यान्सर उपचार सहित हेरचाह र अन्य पक्षहरु (शैक्षिक, प्यालिएटिभ-- आदि )  पनि अत्यावश्यक हुन्छ भन्ने मान्यता राख्नुहुन्छ । 

क्यान्सर रोगको उपचारमा  देशको अग्रणी विशेषज्ञको रूपमा सुपरिचित  ड़ा श्रेष्ठ क्यान्सर सम्बन्धि वक्ता, क्यान्सर सम्बन्धि कार्यक्रमको आयोजक, अन्वेषक र  संस्थापकको रूपमा असंख्य क्यान्सर गतिविधिहरूमा संलग्न हुहुहुन्छ ।  नेपालमा क्यान्सर निवारणका लागि साहसी र दूरदर्शी व्यक्तित्व साबित गरिसक्नुभएका  ड़ा श्रेष्ठ कुनै पनि नेपालीले क्यान्सर उपचारको निम्ति भारत र अन्य मुलुकमा भौतारिन नपरोस , नेपालमै सबै प्रकारको  सर्बसुलभ उपचार सम्भब होस् भन्ने मान्यताबाट नेपाल क्यान्सर हस्पिटलको स्थापना भएको बताउनुहुन्छ ।       नेपालीको  क्यान्सरको उपचार गर्न देशको राष्ट्रिय स्वास्थ्य नीति अन्तर्गत राष्ट्रिय स्वास्थ्य बीमाले क्यान्सर उपचारलाई पनि समेट्नु पर्ने धारणा राख्नुहुन्छ ।

Dr. Sudip Shrestha, the Executive Chairman of Nepal Cancer Hospital and Research Center (NCHRC) is a visionary and a pioneer in the field of oncology in Nepal. His “dream project” of a comprehensive cancer hospital in Nepal that provided quality cancer care was realized in 2015, when NCHRC was established under his leadership as Executive Chairman.

Before NCHRC, Dr. Shrestha worked as Medical Director and HOD of Bhaktapur Cancer Hospital, helping establish and run this important public hospital, and also played an instrumental role in establishing the Om Cancer Care Centre, the dedicated cancer care wing of a popular private hospital in Nepal. His passion for comprehensive cancer care has led him to envision and set up many organizations dedicated to academic, palliative or other aspects of cancer care. As founding president, he provided the vision and energy for the establishment of Nepalese Association of Palliative Care (NAPCare 2009) and the Nepal Cancer Support group (NCSG 2009). He is also a founder member of Om Health Foundation, a voluntary organization to help poor patients.

As the country’s leading expert on cancer, he has been involved in numerous cancer activities as speaker, teacher, organizer, researcher, or founder. Dr. Shrestha continues being bold and visionary in tackling cancer in Nepal, and wants to help make cancer treatment and control a part of the country’s national health policy, and help cover cancer patients under a national health insurance policy.
